No, my name is not Petronila. I named my shop after my favorite doll I had as a child and after my beautiful daughter who I call Petronila from time to time.
I have been making folk art dolls for about fifteen years. At first they looked very primitive, you know ugly primitive - which I still love. Before I knew it they started getting friendly eyes, pretty wool hair, rosie lips and color, lots of color. My creations are full of personality. They usually hold or wear something vintage or something I create just for them. My dolls are my design and always one-of-a-kind.
I have recently fallen in love with watercolor painting. I come home from work and while the house is nice and quiet I paint, sometimes I paint for hours. As always I create whimsical girls. These little girls make me smile so I have decided to offer them to you and hope that they make you smile as well.
We only have one table in my little house so I don't get to create my dolls as much as I would like. It gets tiresome to have to clear the table and put everything away three times a day so I find other things to make and offer. Right now I am making beautiful paper rosettes and I am offering my grungy ribbons which are hand dyed and grunged up by yours truly.
